This "Mitchell" is a kind of a "Frankenstein" AFAIK. Originally it was a B-25D, but I remember reading an article many moons ago (must find it!) that this a/c has been never used, but lost on the way from the far east Siberia to the war zone (after delivery via the AlSib route from Alaska). Parts of different a/c use during restoration. As you see top turret is bogus, wheels are fake, but I think both engines are original - must check it again. Several sources (old ones) speculated this was the plane of Capt. York from the Doolittle raid - it is not.

That and big areas of the skin were fabricated out of sheet metal during the restoration. The original plane was brand new, but what they found in Siberia was just remnants, unfortunately.
