In honor of the Demise of the Latest US Airline with a mostly Yellow Paint scheme. How about this vintage publicity shot of Hughes Airwest announcing there new Paint scheme and Flight attendant uniforms. On the wing of an unidentified DC-9-30 (that I probably worked on 10 years later when it was flying for Republic then Northwest Airlines.

Interesting Shell Oil aviation fuel car. I later found this is a Thomson Brothers Aircraft Refueler, this is an early model (Probably a MKII). Later models were used by the RAF in WWII. Some History

I always liked the Curtis Condor biplane for some odd reason, I have never seen this shot of one of the few operated by the Chinese.

Although the straight line distance from Lae to Wau is only 75km and from Lae to Bulolo only 65km everything was flown in as the terrain was such that there were no roads. The biggest loads were eight gold dredges each weighing some 7,000 Imp tons/tonnes or 7,700 US tons.

Loading large pieces in both the Junkers and Fords involved parking the tail wheel on a set of scales, removing the roof, using the crane to position the load, remove the sling, position the roof, check the weight on the tail wheel and calculating the CoG. If the CoG was within limits then the roof was bolted down. If not the roof was removed, the load reslung and then moved fore or aft as required.
