IJA did not clarify data and Kawasaki only confirms the fact as a maker. General aviation records tell that there was a 15 hour non-stop flight between Japan and Taiwan in 1929.

I have not heard the Kurai but Mk3 bomb for IJN or Ta-bomb for IJA.

My instant impression was the Mutsu simply because of the mountain background which looked like Kure Port but the wild wind and waves looks like near Yokosuka Port for the Nagato.

The Kurai was short for Kuchu-gyorai(空中魚雷 = Sky torpedo) as a nickname of the Mk3 bomb.

Even dogs helped to pull.

Sukayu Hot Spring in Aomori Pref.
This is famous for the mixed bathing.

Nikko Tosyo-gu Shrine in Tochigi Pref.

Tachikawa aka town of base in Tokyo.
Street girls, base workers and GIs.

Karuizawa in Nagano Pref. in 1957.
This town was originally developed as a holy summer resort by the British/Canadian missionaries in the 1880s but, in this book, is said to have been vulgarized as a town of vanity for the Japanese snobs in the postwar.

Hatonomachi town as one of the legal brothel areas, aka special coffee shop area, in Tokyo in 1950.
This kind of town still exists in my neighborhood as it's too traditional as a culture to eliminate even for the authorities.
