Todays selections are some aircraft from the carrier IJN Hosho and Akagi during the 1920's.

These early Mitsubishi aircraft were all the product of British designer Herbert Smith as previously mentioned. The Mitsubishi 1MF design was designated the Navy Type 10 Carrier Fighter, which was the very first purpose designed aircraft carrier-based single-seat fighter.

Continuing the theme of early IJN naval plane. Courtesy of the net. Shinpachi, I couldn't find any more information on the pilots pictured. Maybe you could find something more about them?
