February 26 today is the 88th anniversary of the 226 Incident - a coup by left-wing IJA officers who involved many innocent soldiers. The 2nd Shino-Japanese War broke out in the following year (1937) and the soldiers who joined the coup had been sent to the front. Coming March 6 was Mother's Day but no one paid attention.
