I am just reading "The First Team" and I was surprised at how often the AM5 was met in combat before the Midway Battle. I had no idea that the IJN Carrier Shoho still had several onboard during the Coral Sea Battle. And at least 2 of them where involved in CAP duties during the USN's attack that resulted in its sinking. The comments from the attacking SBD crews where interesting. When we entered our dives the zero's overshot us as soon as we deployed our dive brakes, but the Claude's stayed with us and harassed us during the entire attack, they did not inflict much damage, but they made aiming much more difficult.
