Wreckage of a Ki-54 at the Misawa Aerospace Museum ALTH

Armed J8M with one of its pair of 30mm type 5 cannons. This would have been the production configuration for the Navy's J8M, a close copy of the Me 163B INHG

The Planes of Fame Museum in Chino was able to acquire the USAAF J8M and restore it to the configuration seen here INHG
 

The aircraft is now at the Mitsubishi Komaki Plant at Nagoya Komaki Airport. Sadly, the museum is closed to the public now. I found this out before I went to Nagoya in April.


The Ki-54 is no longer at Misawa, it was moved a few years ago. It is now in storage at the former Tachikawa plant just outside of Tokyo and hasn't been on public display for a while now, which is disappointing. Tachikawa did hold an open day to show the aircraft off but this was some years ago.

These are 35 Sqn Lancaster B.1(FE)s in Tiger Force colours - FE for Far East. This is one of a series of photographs taken of these aircraft in formation. They were flown in formation as pracitse and for turbulence tests before flying to the United States and there were sixteen in total. Following the VE Day flypast over London the aircraft departed for the USA from RAF Gravely on 8 July 1946 in two Flights of eight aircraft, arriving at Mitchell Field, New York on the 17th, with stops at St Mawgan, the Azores, and Gander Newfoundland.
