Chinese certainly not, but indo-chinese. French Indo-China was in 1940 a grouping of French colonial territories in Southeast Asia (the only french colony in Asia). It comprised Cambodia, Laos, Chinese territory of Guangzhouwan, and the vietnamese regions of Tonkin, Annam and Cochinchina.

These are certainly Indochinese soldiers from the 52e Demi brigade de Mitrailleurs d'Infanterie Coloniale (Colonial Infantry Machine Guns Half Brigade) that had to hold a 12 km front section between Mézières and Nouzonville on may 1940.
