Lt. Moriyasu Hidaka poses in front of his Mitsubishi A6M2 Model 21 Zero fighter on the flight deck of the light aircraft carrier Zuihō in October of 1942, prior to the Battle of Santa Cruz Island's. Hidaka was the commander of Zuihō's zero squadron during the Battle of Santa Cruz where he led 9 zeros into the battle, he received both praise and criticism for having intercepted USS Enterprise's strike force leading to the loss of 2 TBFs and 3 Wildcats but having abandoned the strike force that was sent to strike the US carriers that subsequently suffered heavy losses including Lt. Commander Murata.

Coincidentally, I took a photo of an F6F-5 Hellcat in those the same markings as aircraft #32 shown. It is an aircraft that is part of the Flying Heritage Collection Museum at Paine Field, WA, the museum formerly owned by Paul Allen.View attachment 848357

I used to like watching Frank Tallman do aeros in his Duck. Everything else had high reving engines but the Duck just went kadunk----- kadunk---- kadunk and did big sloooow loops and things.
