The only thing i can say for sure in hat the fuselage was definitely built from wood. I will post the picture if no one has the book.
I may have been in the book Broken Wings of the Samurai, but i think it was in Dead Birds and Meatballs.

Thank you - a great photo and clearly a wooden fuselage. It shows that at least one wood fuselage was built but seeing it was in the junk yard that does not mean it ever flew. The question is was this a one off or just a failure for some reason like a bad glue joint. Given that wooden aircraft are usually heavier than metal ones maybe it was junked because the weight increase was too high. Maybe it was a static test unit. Unfortunately there are many reasons for why it ended up in the junk pile and even more unfortunately we will probably never know why. I think I need the updated version of Francillon's book just in case he was able to solve the problem.
