Sir Hugh Dowding visits the Lockheed aircraft factory in Burbank, California today, to check on the
status of Lockheed Hudson Bombers (visible in the photo). Many future celebrities worked in this
plant, including Marilyn Monroe and Robert Mitchum. The photo was taken 16 February 1941,
apparently in honor of Dowding's visit.

I think you will find that Marylin Monroe worked in a drone engine factory.

I would love to know what is on the left of this photo as all the crew lined up on the deck are obviously pulling on a rope

P-47 in PNG. Note the big ugly belly tank. The second shot is of the same airplane after it was recovered from a mountainside. It is for sale, just a little fixer upper.
Probably be done before I get my 97 Celica back together.

Perhaps it has something to do with the ship alongside being kept in position
