Nothing "arguable" about it at all... on 3 December 1989, Gorbachev and Bush declared the Cold War* over at the Malta Summit... first flight of the Saab Gripen: December 9, 1988.

* However, many historians argue that the dissolution of the Soviet Union on 26 December 1991 was the end of the Cold War.

Awesome pic.

I've flown into Wiesbaden many, many times. For some reason I never remember the runway being long enough for fixed wing, but then I had to go back and look at some old pics, and it in fact was.

I did not serve in the cold war. I lived in Germany during the final decade of it, though, as a military dependent.

Yep. although a target drone, I have often wondered if the Jindivik could have been the basis for a Recon drone.

F-5 or F-5A Freedom Fighter. Norway did not acquire the Tiger II.
