The Falklands war broke out April 1982 when Ronald Regan was President. Those are FG-1 Phantoms on Ark Royal. They were integrated with the RAF when Ark was scrapped. Then in 1990-91 the Phantom force from Leuchars was shredded at Whiteinch Glasgow.Here's a pic of HMS Ark Royal in 1978 with Phantoms aboard.

Example?Thanks to this thread, I learned that the Soviet AF/FAA and the US Navy had airplanes with almost the same designation, the only difference was the series letter. I don't know what this knowledge is for, but I find it just kind of funny.
