I read of a case in VN where a F-4C got hit and needed to refuel. A KC-135A showed up just as the F-4 went dry and they tried to refuel in a dive, but finally gave up and the F-4 crew punched out.
Probably required a engine restart, 135 have towed F-4's to final destination when wounded but I don't recall if the fighter had to have at least one engine running or not.

A B-17 modified to carry two JB-2 missiles. The JB-2 was an American copy of the V-1 flying bomb but with an improved guidance system.
