IIRC, the original design for the B-32 actually used a twin-tail arrangement, similar to the company's B-24 Liberator, on the first and second prototypes; they went to the really tall tail on the third prototype.

Nice post, the five engine B-17's were a little wierd but the L133 is dang good looking...
