It should be noted that "Invasion Stripes", or more correctly, AEAF stripes, were ordered to be removed from the finished fresco after August 2nd, with the exception of those areas immediately visible from the ground. Therefore, the mid-span of all the wings of angels, visible from ground level, were to retain the stripes, each being 18 inches wide, or a scale approximation, dependent on angle of view, and, if the mid-section of said angels was also visible, the stripes had to be applied, up to the level of what could be considered the mid- waist band area of semi-clothed angels, and an equal median for those unclothed.
Note that cherubs, being considered minors and therefore classed as " non- combatants", were exempt from these latest AEAF directives.

I thought the Sistine Chapel was NPF (Natural Plaster Finish) but I guess it was before the exact day they decided to stop painting chapels.

There was a directive that was ignored. During the Protestant reformation churches were ordered to destroy murals on their walls, one church at least ( St Peter and St Paul's Church, Pickering - Wikipedia.) just white washed over them. This sort of stuff was in many churches in the middle ages and completely transforms how they look.

Cough cough, I think you are referring to transept arms, the term "wing guns" came much later.
