Morning,

I stumbled across this picture this morning and was wondering if any one had more pictures of the aircraft. Seems like it would be a great model.

VIVIGANI, GOODENOUGH ISLAND, PAPUA. 1943-07-02. THE EMBLEM "GHOST SHIP" (NOSE ART) PAINTED ON THE KITTYHAWK AIRCRAFT OF NO. 77 SQUADRON RAAF FLOWN BY FLYING OFFICER J. V. HACKETT OF TOWNSVILLE, QLD.

Info found here: https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org/threads/raaf-nose-art-ww2.22285/

Thanks in advance

Paul

One of the 77 Sqn RAAF P-40Ks. There is a large group of nose art photos of such airframes on the AWM website (in the OG00xx series), but the bad news is that they do not have any overall images of them. 10-11 of the batch of 77 Sqn Nose arts are in the https://www.vintageleatherjackets.org/threads/raaf-nose-art-ww2.22285/ link.

The even worse news is that Dick Creswell the unit C.O was a stickler for following the regulations (including the one that said no photography for security reasons) and therefore there have been almost no images published anywhere of overall colour schemes for those airframes.

In short there is no info on what they rest of that airframe looked like, not even a code serial number have been quoted.

I recently came across an Aus Archives file on squadron codes and letters by accident and thought I had bookmarked it even tho of no interest to me personally. I will try to refind it. Colour schemes are much easier as their is documentation on that. Again not my area but what I find I will post.

Just found the markings files and have started a new thread

Bugger, not sure how I missed this but thank you. I will have to check it out when I get home.

Thanks again.
