It's interesting, Tamigawa charge £30+ for a 1/72 re-released kit with new decals and here comes Revell with their 1/32 Fw 190F-8 in 1/32 for £37! Oil prices up...? Riiiiiight....

How any company can justify that sort of price for a £5 to £10 1/72nd scale kit is beyond me. They could possibly state it's the cost of the decals, but that's b*ll*cks, as these days DTP can produce the artwork quickly and cheaply, and either medium to long run screen or litho printing, with digitally produced plates, is cheaper than it's ever been since I was in the trade.

Yes, as you can see in the enclosed picture, one decal option is for Georges Guynemer bird.

"Old Charles", I understand that he "inherited" the SPAD with that name on it and kept it, maybe as a good luck charm? Heard also that he let Ernst Udet go in combat, or was it Voss? Or Goring? I forget, but my good friend Philippe, whose opinion on such things I respect, says he was not the natural born killer that René Fonck was.

I feel for you guys in the UK, with the Hasegawa and Tamiya pricing, but something just ain't right....It can't be H T making those prices so inflated, it's gotta be the chain of supply piling on their portion of Handling/profit to get those numbers stacked that high.....

Knowing the bandits who 'run' this country, it's probably Import Duty, Value Added Tax, You're Not Supposed to Enjoy Yourself Service Charge, Tax on the latter at 20%, Luxury Goods Tax, oh, and didn't it use a lot of diesel fuel to get it from the docks? Then let's tax that as well !
What, it came from Japan via a country where we've severed Diplomatic Relations? Embargo breaking - tax that at a further 20% !!!
Yet Revell can have a kit moulded in Poland, decals printed in Italy, packaging made and printed in Taiwan, parts boxed in France, imported into the UK from Germany, and still sell a new kit at a realistic retail price !

Today I saw at one of our local stores a 1/32 Revell Mosquito for $28.99. A 1/48 Tamiya He-162 beside it was going for $48 and the 1/48 Hasegawa reboxes were in the sixties.

Ok my Whirlwind goodies came in along with a new book!
