Better to find out before I was half way through. When I get home tonight I'm going to see what the difference is between the two aircraft, hoping it might only be a matter of rounding off the wings

I believe you're right. There was a Mod. 22 that gave the square tips to the wings of the A6M2 or something like that. I'll look for wing plans when I get home

George the A6M3 Model 32 had shorter 'squared off' clipped wings the A6M3 Model 22 had the same wings as the A6M2 Model 21.
The A6M3 versions also had a slightly different more streamlined cowling than the A6M2.

Thanks Wayne. I eventually figured out it would be very difficult. I found that the Model 32 was shorter in the front by 7" or so due to a large engine and change in the center of gravity. I found this photo of a Model 32.

According to my info the Model 22 and 32 had the same a/c length ( 9,06m) but different wingspan ( 12m for Model 22 and 11m for Model 32 ). Wayne is right with the wing for the Model 22 and the A6M2 Model 21. Both had the same 12m wingspan. The difference was the length (9,05m for the A6M2 Model 21 ). The wingspan of 11m for the Model 32 was the result of turning in the folded wing tips. Also the Model 32 had a larger prop in the diameter ( 3, 05m )

Right you are. The engine mountings were shortened by 7.3" so I assume the aircraft length was as well

Beauty. The middle one give me a vague idea about the antenna locations. It looks like the lower one is attached along the center of the fuselage and the upper one just above the base of the tail

Don't throw in the towel yet. Looks like the stencil seen on Mustangs. Second line seems to read AAF Mfr No and then the same number that appears on the tail. We could probably decipher the rest or wing it. The decal could be part spare/part printed.
