Nice ones Karl. And I'm with Andy - I think I'm going to build quite a few more or less OOB, apart from maybe seat belts, brake lines and so on, otherwise, I'll be leaving the bulk of my stash to Karl !
I reckon I can probably do this with about half of my stash, with those for my '56 Squadron Collection' and, for example, all the Bf109E's for my 'BoB Hardest Days' collection concentrating on the paint finish.

Nice ones Karl!

Hear yas with the builds too... I am making a conscious effort to concentrate on ONE project at a time, in order to finish them! Finally got my compressor and paints over from Hungary too, so back in business on that front.

These are my latest arrivals since my last post, all 1:72:

McDonnell-Douglas A-4E/F Skyhawk cockpit - Aires

RAAF/ RNZAF post war roundels - Roodecals

I reckon I need to change my approach if I want to get through my stash and get more models done. I spend a lot of time on super detailing when I could maybe spend more on painting practice by doing more OOB.

come to the dark side Andy.
only use half the decals, leave off a few small pieces that no one will notice and dont paint it if its difficult to see.

go on you can do it........... !

As Wojtek, Terry and myself have talked about, how about an unofficial 'OOB' GB?
Could be the 'fresh start' some of us are looking for to get the hand back in, or a 'relief build' for the scratchbuilders to 'take it easy'... I will start a thread if anyone's keen.

As for purchases, this is the perfect way to end a very fortunate year for me. With the closest modelshop 1.5 hours away, all I can say is 'Thank God for E-Bay and the net!!!'
(Also a very big THANKYOU! to Ivett for bidding while I was at work, and Jim for the heads-up re one of the rare jewels of my RNZAF collection: the Contrail Short Singapore! Thanks mate!)

De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito NF.Mk.XIII/XVII - Tamiya 1:72.

WISHING EVERYONE A HAPPY NEW YEAR, and MANY HAPPY PURCHASES (and builds!) FOR 2015! :D

Good man Andy, and you're right.

Personally, I think schemes and markings could be optional, but the model itself almost completely OOB, unless transferring spare (OOB) parts from another kit to improve certain areas.
I also think scratchbuilt antenna wires should be allowed, which aren't supplied in kits.

What d'ya reckon?
