Just arrived. Not a purchase but a gift from another awesome member, Jesse Viking1066 Viking1066 As I told him, I will return here for this one build in the Start to Finish. A huge thank you Jesse. One of the decal options mentions a Lilac coloured Rufe on the Aleutians. Many sites I've been to since receiving this, call myth; it may have been weathered down to the reddish primer. Where this story (myth) started may be here... A Short Story for Christmas

Off to research..................
That story is from 2015 and I remember reading about the "Lilac Rufes" much earlier maybe 10 years (at least) earlier. I was a true believer in the beginning. Then I got older.....
BTW there was a great movie in the 90s called "Smoke", with Harvey Keitel and William Hurt. The latter was a writer and the former, a tobacconist. And he shared a Christmas story with the writer (the whole story was obviously a complete lie). It was called "Auggie Wren's Christmas Story" (by Paul Auster, who was the writer of the movie "Smoke"). The story was shot in b&w, like a separate short film. The music was by Tom Waits - his famous "Innocent when you dream". I still can't forget that part of the movie after so many years (I watched it in 1996 for the first time - wow 30 years ago!). Recently I found the following description of that "Christmas story"-meaning: "That's what makes the Smoke ending unforgettable and it reminds us that sometimes the stories we tell mean more than whether they actually happened."

I bought them at an exhibition/competition in Stresa on Lake Maggiore... And if there is a section for photos of exhibitions I can post some of the models on display

LS came out with 1/72 kit many years ago of the Rufe that actually had a Rose colored version on I it along with the standard camo and variant. It's from a Japanese company who would actually know from being closer to the history of the conflict. Just a suggestion.

Great scores guys, and cheers for the heads up on the Aermacchis Bernie! Just googled and ordered a kiwi for myself (MB 339CB) - the wings on the Supermodel kit I have being too inaccurate to correct...
I am also waiting on the Litaki kits, due for release sometime this year I think. They sound like they will be the best MB 339 kits around.

Yes Evan.

The KP 's wings are correct. The old Supermodel/Italeri are shorter
These are really very good MB339.
I suggest them

I read one criticism of them (there always is, isn't there?) about the cockpit. Apparently the 'tub is too thin for the ejector seats and doesn't look like a 339 cockpit'. What's your opinion Bernie?

Unfortunately yes Evan.
There are few perfect models. Regarding the cockpit I haven't checked yet, but for sure the rudder is shorter.
It must be lengthened in height.

About the cockpit I will check
