This is a Republic XP-72. Derived from the P-47 this interceptor used the 28 Cylinder R-4360-13 engine. When the USAAF revised the specification to a long range bomber escort it was cancelled. The kit is resin from Alliance to 1/72 scale.

Excellent work Ed! The XP-72 is one that I've always wanted to build. I never realized it before but that intake on the underside looks just like the one on the Chrysler powered XP-47H. Must have been a holdover from that design.

Also the "J" ,but I'm not sure which was first. The XP-72 was developed even as the early "B's were coming off the line. According to my sources both were dropped in favor of the XP-72. (US Fighters,Aero Publishers Llyod S. Jones,1975) I'm not an expert on AAF planes so correct me if I'm wrong.

Again one extra interesting model.
Of course, model is finished perfectly.
Only if you can make better pictures so the model can be presented in full glory.

Thanks all. I have a pretty good camera but don't really know how to use it. If I get too close it blurs and if I use the telephoto my hand shakes so much the photos are terrible. I can paint a straight line but cannot hold the camera still !
