Revell - Junkers Ju88 A-4
Instructions PDF...https://www.revell.de/fileadmin/import/images/bau/03935_#BAU_JUNKERS_JU88A_4.PDF
$34.27CAN ish, not too shabby

I'm not sure if this a 'new' kit, or re-boxed ICM kit - the parts look like ICM.
Revell used to have the Ju-88A4 available as a re-boxed Dragon kit, which I have in the stash to convert back to the A1 version, and the parts are different to this 'new' kit.

Late too the party, but that's indeed ICM's plastic in this new Revell release. The sprues of the new A4 have nothing in common with the older Dragon ones.
Not surprising as Revel previously released ICM's Do 215 with extra Night Fighter parts.
I think ICM and Revell are working together on these new releases.

Having recieved Special Hobby's Ju 88D-2/4, which is also ICM's plastic but with extra resin parts.
I assume Revel is a simelar boxing, but presumebly with new plastic containing specific engine nacelles (with deeper air intakes), new props and other A4 parts.
Most likely ICM will release A4 based airframes at a later date. I sure hope they'll do the torpedo version.

I agree.
ICM have their Ju88A-5, and two versions of the A-4, plus the A-11 and A-14, so apart from perhaps different decals, I'd guess that the Revell example is identical - pity they didn't 'mix and match' ICM kit parts and release the A-1 version instead. (although it's possible that ICM might release this at some point, using their A-5 as the basis.).
It's likely that Revell and ICM are working in some kind of partnership, possibly with cost / tool sharing, but more likely Revell committing to purchase 'x' amount of kits, allowing ICM to invest in tooling and marketing of their own kits, bolstered by the sales to Revell.
Can't really see an advantage for buyers, at least in the UK - the full retail price of the ICM versions is £27.99, whilst the Revell example is £29.99. (quite a difference to the Canadian price, which is roughly £20.00).
But then, the Revell brand is likely to be more common to the average buyer, especially in high street stores, as opposed to dedicated or specialist model shops, and on-line model outlets. Incidentally, Hannant's do show this kit as 'ex ICM'.

No, I mean that Revell would say that it's a rebox of the ICM kit with added resin parts. Not list every item.

Andy, when I see a new kit or any kit for that matter, I go to this site...Scalemates, scale modeling database | stash manager It's not the be all/end all but it is usually very helpful. Note here that it says "Based on". They will also give a time line of the kit...

Scroll down further and you have online buying and reviews...

....and further still you get aftermarket add-ons as they are reported (this is only part of a large list)

Finally you get books and member builds if there are any...

Its a very nice site but the navigation takes some getting used to.The first thing I learned when doing a search is to do the scale their way

1:48 and not 1/48, I never got any where using the latter

Yeah, I knew about that but why not just write it on the box? I don't want to have to check the provenance of a kit on the net every time I have in my hands to see if I should buy it. My typical source for kits these days is at model shows where vendors set up to sell their wares so the purchases are spur of the moment events rather than a well researched buy.

That's exactly what I do these days. I buy most (if not all) of my kits at shows, directly from vendors tables. That way I'm sure what I'm getting.
Esp. concerning Revell as the do Hasegawa, ICM, Monogram, etc... repops.
For us Europeans, the Hasegawa repops are mostly interesting due their price as these are usually 50% cheaper in a Revell boxing then in the Hasegawa box...
As for ICM, if bought at a show from a Vendor is usually 20% cheaper then Revell...As in stores, ICM is usually 20% more expensive then Revell for the same sprue. Though Revell can be found in most toy shops, so these are easy obtainable and plenty...
