That's a perfect call. 'Though I always wanted a '68 Coupe de Ville convertible. That would be nice for cruising on the Mother Road. There was a '68 Coupe in the neighborhood that was this beautiful green.
I did find this picture taken in June 2022 in Pontiac Illinios . I only stayed on Rt66 for about its 1st 25 miles as it was a side trip on the way to SD. The car is my 2006 Pontiac Solstice converted with a LS2 V8 & Tremec 6-speed transmission. The trailer is not mine, but belongs to a retired GM engineer, and it is made out of the back 1/2 of a development car with no VIN that "escaped" the crusher.
I chose the Mark 2 over the Solstice because it is a better Highway cruiser, and more period correct for the Mother road.
I have driven almost the entire route. Just the section through Illinois into Chicago has escaped me so far. Nowadays I would do the drive in one of these.
