Hi Wurger,

Just got back from the hobby shop and I found the Gvardia Badge in a Squadron/Signals Publication #192 Ilyushin II-4 in action book!
I scanned it in at 2400 PDI and then reduced it to the correct size for printing. It looks pretty good and I think I'll have to go with it unless I can find a better image in the other two books I just order. I'll let you know once I receive them.

Hi Wurger,

I found an excellent decal set by AML Decals #48 018, here's some links to the set:

All of the model kits and decal sets that I've found are indicating the wings of the White 78 were clipped.

I need to get started on my project so I believe I'm going to build it with the clipped wings. I think the clipped wings toughens up the look of the Spit anyway.

Hi Bob C !!!
The decals are excelent.Judging by them the Guard badge is a bit oval in shape.I've checked others colour profiles and I have to state that they are.However,in the pohotos they seem to be more circle in shape indeed.
I'm still looking for info on it and clipped Spits in Russia using the internet and books.Maybe I find out more.
