Google did an auto experiment on the site for "vingette ads" which has created the recent issues of annoying ads. I disabled it - so should avoid having these actions.

I don't have the flags anymore, just "US", "NOR" etc in very big letters.

Chrome doesn't render those as emoji for some reason. You should see images on firefox and safari.
They only show for mods/admins to know origin of post from ip.

I can confirm the problem with not only the Chorme but also with the Microsoft Edge despity my status.
