    Hi,

I've seen that some Sturmbock Fw190 pilots wore a special insignia on their leather flying jackets, referred to as "whites of their eyes" insignia, but have no pictures of what this insignia looked like...does anybody know or perhaps have a photo of the complete insignia?

    Thanks!

Eric Mombeek's book "Sturmstaffel 1" has several pictures of pilots wearing that insignia.

Below: Feldwebel Hans Schaefer, wearing his leather flying jacket with the 'Whites of the Eyes' insignia worn by some Sturmgruppe pilots. Schaefer was credited with 27 victories, eight of them against four-engined bombers. Schaefer

all IV.Sturm/JG 3 pilots wore the whites of the eyes insig till and through December 1944, then a command if you will to remove the insig when the Sturmgruppe dissolved and was placed as a regular LW defense gruppe in the defense of Berlin from Mid-January 1945 till wars end.

get a copy of Priens IV./JG 3 book by Struve Druck Verlag also google Sturmgruppen and find Neil Page's/mine old sturm web-site there are still some interesting pages still floating in cyberspace
