The MiG 3 doesn´t look that bad also.
In general I would prefer the Spit MK V.

I think the Spitfire/Mustang is the essence of a beautiful fighter. Not as cool as the P-38 but looks more pure.

Lets not forget the beautiful Savoia Marchetti SM.91 and SM.92!

Fw-190D-9..... Period....... Has been the sexiest thing with a propeller to me since I was 12 or 13..........

Second place is the Corsair, out of respect for my Grandfather...

LMFAO!
That's got to be the best sig yet!

To me the most beautiful are the later Merlin powered Spitfires, such as the Mk. VIII, and most of the wartime Griffon powered Spitfires. In their elliptical winged form, that is. The clipped wings do nothing for the looks.
The Corsair naturally rates among the most beautiful fighters ever created.

I have to say, I like the Catalina's body. :)

that's gotta be the weirdest suggestion yet.........

but in looks i'd put it:

1) Supermarine Spitfire, later griffon marks or later merlin marks
2) Avro Lancaster Mk.I, the best looking bomber of the war

and i also believe the P-47 is worthy of an honary mention......

What's wrong with the Catalina? It's a wonderfully smooth bird.
