Though this is not a rare news for decades -

"Taiwanese oceanographic research vessel surveys to violate Japan's EEZ off the coast of Senkaku with "wires" underwater

It was confirmed yesterday that a Taiwanese marine research vessel was extending a wire-like object into the sea inside Japan's EEZ (=Exclusive Economic Zone) off the coast of the Senkaku Islands in Okinawa Prefecture.

According to the 11th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters, before 9:00 on July 12th, inside Japan's EEZ about 183 kilometers north from Taisho Island of the Senkaku Islands, Taiwanese oceanographic research vessel "Shinkaiken No. 1" was confirmed extending an object like a wire from the stern into the sea.

A Japan Coast Guard vessel requested the Taiwanese research vessel to stop research activities without Japan's consent by radio but there was no response from the Taiwanese vessel.

It was the first time since June 15th that the Taiwanese marine research vessel had been confirmed to be active in Japan's EEZ."

Tsai may be calling back Kishida in Lithuania or warning to Okinawa Governor Tamaki but the incident this time should be understood as her message to Japan or China or both.

Kishida did not pay attention to the flood disaster in Japan this week but NATO meeting. As the poll shows this week, his party LDP may lose in the next general election which is expected in the autumn. New nationalist party Ishin is expected to grow as the new leader of opposition parties in the Diet.

2022 was the 50th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations between Japan and China but the celebration events were cancelled due to Covid. Japan-China exchange program resumes after 4-year hiatus.

The founder of Sasakawa Peace Foundation, Ryoichi Sasakawa (1899-1995), was Class A war criminal suspect like Abe's grandfather Nobusuke Kishi (1896-1987). PM Kishida's grandfather, Masaki Kishida (1895-1961), was one of their friends in Manchuria. He was purged from public service with his friends by GHQ till 1951 (or 1952). Needless to say, LDP is a party of traditional Japanese nationalists. This is the basic background to understand Japanese politics.

911 were called to an odd situation.

Meanwhile, someone standing on a home's roof asked bystanders to bring ladders.

They had got to the roof, in Georgetown, Texas, by air. The plane's engine had failed but all three people aboard survived. (KVUE Austin)

I haven't heard the Taurus turds that "the U.S. has the best healthcare in the world!" claim lately which is good because it isn't close to true. To see what country IS on top, and where does the U.S. really fall? (69th!) go to the quick read at Statista: The Healthiest (& Unhealthiest) Countries in the World.

To see their source data, and where every country ranks in a number of categories, look at the Legatum Prosperity Index; click the healthcare header to sort by that column (third from right).

You'll find there that the U.S. is nowhere near the top for "Personal Freedom" either. That is the second column.

And Governance is the third column - don't look for the US at the top there either. View attachment 732622

Oh and the first column is

You will find the US there at #69, below a lot of countries that Americans consider unsafe

Why are we trying to start a political debate?

It was not intended as political. Just informative. Lots of other countries will find the report just as depressing as I do as an Australian. The opening comment is because Americans, like so many other nationalities, consider themselves as the best in everything but are more vocal about it - especially the Texans.

Come on now, the entire thing would lead to a political debate. Everything in your post is a hot political topic and debate in the United States (which I am sure you are 100% aware of). Healthcare is one of the biggest political debates in the country. You even bring up the subject of "Governance" and define it. And then you call out Americans, which you know will entice a response from them. Its inviting them to political debate. ;)
