N.28 used in turret launches. not much of a "runway" even launching into the wind.

why wouldn't it in the color pic its obvious its a fringing hanger queen
The Curtiss "Jeep" was purposely designed to be difficult to fly, so students would be able to handle twin aircraft like the P-38.

Because of that trait, no flyable airframes were offered to the public.

The only two surviving AT-9 (including the one in the color photo) were cobbled together from wrecks.

A similar requirement philosophy resulted in the Northrop T-38 - designed to prepare pilots for Century-series fighters.
