When I was stationed in Georgia, whever the temperature dipped below freezing we would ask the 1st sergeant for a 3 day pass.
"You promised we'd get one when hell freezes over!"

About 13 years ago we flew to San Antonio for my Granddaughters basic training graduation. They had an Ice storm, All the highways were closed and the base canceled graduation because of frozen sidewalks and parade ground. By early afternoon most everything that wasn't in shade was clear.
Sad part is for the most part houses here in Florida are one level,no basement,no second floor storage possibilities. Can't tell you how much stuff we had to get rid of when we were in Colorado..

10C and blustery ....gotta love chinooks (except for the pressure-induced headaches, the sloppy roads, the disappearing ski trails, the muddy paw-prints throughout the house ...... )
