28f. Heavy snow falling. My normal 20 minute commute took an hour. Witnessed four crashes on the way home. Only one serious.
I live on top of a bluff. Watched nearly a dozen vehicles try and fail to get up the hill. Me? No problem. New tires.

They made winter tires mandatory here a few years back. It's a good idea.....

I've been running Nokian Hakkapelitta studded tires for many years now. The only problem I have is they make me over-confident

Another storm system coming in off the Pacific.
It's forecast to be a bit warmer, so no snow for the valley floor - thank God, because people seem to have forgotten how to drive in snow/fog/rain anymore.

Ok, actually they suck at driving in good weather, but bad weather amplifies the stupidity.

Me and the missus just shovelled almost 18ccm/7" of snow off the driveway and walks, -16°C/WC -23°C, 3°F/WC -8°F

Took the two extra blankets off the bed, washed them, and put them away too early. It got up to 86F one day last week but today winter is back. Was 45F this morning and does not look like it will top 56F today. Even cooler tonight. It is sunny out so I think I'll retire to the car, turn on the radio, and read some in the "Savage Skies Emerald Hell" book about the Solomons and NG campaign.

By the way, it seems that the reason those A-24's sent there did not do too well is because the USAAF apparently had never heard of a concept called "Fighter Escort."

There was one squadron of A-24s. The Americans understood the concept of fighter escort. But the P-39s just didn't have the legs.

The USAAF also used the A-24 as a level or shallow dive bomber, which is was not designed for.

The Army should have swallowed it's pride and allowed the Navy to train their pilots in SBD doctrine. This would have made the Banshee a formidable asset.
