Being in an area with a wet season and a dry season we have several cloths lines on the verandahs. Today when it started raining all the Apostle birds decided to sit on one line but the blighters flew away while I was trying to get a photo.

The Eighth Squadron A-24s were assigned escort for every bombing mission assigned them. April 1942 they flew four missions escorted by RAAF Kittyhawks of 75 Sqn. When that unit rotated out at the end of April it was replaced by the USAAF 8th Pursuit Group, equipped with P-39s. In May the 8th Bomb Squadron A-24s were stood down because the P-39s could not effectively provide escort.
The A-24s were assigned a strong escort of two squadrons of P-39s for what would be their final combat mission on July 29, but one squadron failed to rendezvous due to weather, the other got pulled away by defending Zeros of the Tainan Kokutai.

After about 30 inches of snow last week it has warmed up again. All day yesterday and most of today it rained and got up to about 50 F.

Supposed to hit 84 today for us but I know there's more winter left - the cedar elm in the front yard hasn't started growing new leaves yet, and it's a better predictor than any weather geek or almanac.

Temps in the 50's here so I decided to go for a jog. Never done that here in February before.
