Left work yesterday and skies were clear, 12 miles to home and could see the smoke clouds coming into the Twin Cities, by the time I got home my eyes we itching an had a headache.
Today it's even worse, can smell the smoke inside the building and can feel it in my chest.
Minnesota now has 5 seasons, Winter, Spring, Summer, Smoke, and Fall!

I am (partially) joking... we've actually had 2 weeks of glorious hot sushine at the moment, the best weather in a couple of years.
The fires are here -- we had a dry lightning storm a couple of nights ago and some strong winds since and now we just got word that the whole town and surroundings are on evacuation alert -- OK for the time being but be ready to go right now if the word comes. Five fires in the river valley upwind of us, with three significant and one really scary -- 9 Km from town.
We are far enough West that the BC fires rarely affect us. It has been a few cool wet days but going back to sunshine for the next week. Week of sun, two cloudy days with drizzle *maybe*, repeat repeat.
Grew this lawn from hydroseed in 5 weeks with that kind of weather.

Hot and smoky, and we're still on evacuation alert. The fires are all still going, and are all in lunatic terrain -- fire bombers tried to get at the big one but the canyon is just too hairy for them to safely deal with. Usually they just let these mountain lightning fires run if they are not threatening anyone, as it's just too difficult and dangerous to try to fight them. These we are seeing, though are just too close (and upwind) to town and other populated areas. The fire fighters are laying down firebreaks through the forest that they can get at -- nasty hot work. So far they are mostly smoldering ground fires with not much "crowning". Slow moving and very smoky.
The last time this happened four or five years ago we were on evacuation alert for over three weeks, but never saw any flames here in town. We'll see what tomorrow brings.

Dang Floridians, Give them their own tropical storm and they shove it off towards us. Can't trust anyone to keep them things to their selves.
I'd say. It is on our short list and hoping for just a slice of that good luck.
