I helped put together a MiG-15 UTI and a couple of L29s. It always seems like you'll find something along the way. Rule of thumb - if you come up with a restoration budget, double it and keep your fingers crossed.
Look at this guy. The description of how the aileron got damaged is hilarious. Two guys were trying to tow a cart on the airfield without using a vehicle with a tow hook. They just tied it to the bumper or something. It broke lose and rolled into the hangar where it damaged the Mig's aileron. They decided to just not tell anyone in the hope no one would notice. But Jimmy bought it anyway. Among Jimmy's recent exploits is buying a Cessna 310 that was intact but had not flown in decades and putting about $100K into it before giving up.
The Canadians are not the only ones that leave their stuff out laying around. The difference is, unlike these Russian space boosters, the CF-5 did not crash there.
