This is where I am at the moment. Let's see if these plug wires work ok. Time will only tell, but so far so good

Comments and any tips are most welcome. I know the pic is of the Fm-1, but I am doing it as a F4F-4. May fill in gun ports to make FM-1. Have to see. High jacked the stars and bars from one of my f6f's

It's a good start and that engine has a future.
That scheme will make it look great.
I'll walk around here ...

Got a little more done tonight. Need to let the paint dry overnight. Then I will tackle assembly tomorrow. And here is the assembled unit. Almost looks real;)

I was going through the instructions and it seems to me that if I am making it with the wings in fixed flight position. I do not need all the internal parts. I was thinking if I make it so the wings fold they may no line up too well, so if I just glue all the wing components together, then attach it to the fuse. Any other ideas?

Well I managed not to destroy anything and patience has seemed to pay off. This is what I mostly finished today. I guess I am happy with the result. This is all my skill set will allow

Very nice work! Why don't you jump in the WWI/WWII Over Water group build with this one? A few of us have corsairs going over there and would be nice to have a Wildcat. Doesn't finish until June.

I am pretty sure that the cockpit is interior green or for me at the moment MM 1715 Here is the thing. I really want to use bronze green or Hu75 but that would make it pre 41 and -4 did not start to roll out until mid 41, so I would think that most would have been painted int green. I hear some may have been painted bronze from GM at the beginning of -4 production I am probably ok using bg, but if I decide to close one gun port on each wing and make it into a FM1 then paint would be wrong. That being said. If I want to paint it yellow, at the end of the day it is mine to do as I please.
