Considering where the bomb exploded it was definitely very fortuitous that no one was hurt.

It's actually quite surprising to me that there are not more incidents of this nature considering how many tons of bombs were dropped on those areas during WW2. Even Europe is still having incidents with unexploded WW2 ordnance. The most recent incident that I can recall was when a tallboy bomb was found in a canal in Poland. They ended up detonating it remotely when efforts to defuse it failed.
