Homeward-bound, the aircraft was shot up by night fighter pilot Hauptmann Paul Kratz of the II./NJG 2 and was force-landed on Sylt island.
One of the gunners, Podporucznik Strzelec (Pilot Officer) Bolesław Boguszewski, succumbed to his injuries.
