In the 1970's and 1980's there were fairly frequent stories in the news about WWII period aircraft being used for drug smuggling. e. I'm starting a thread to give a central place to post interesting stories and comments relating to this topic. One of the most popular models used to haul drugs was the A-26/B-26 Invader, popular because it was fast, had a long range with payload, and in those days was available at a price low enough to make it disposable. Have not heard too much about this. I have heard that R6D's (DC-6 or C-118's) were being used for the drug trade, but not any warbirds. I recall an instance where a C-118 landed on a strip that was so short, the wings had to be removed to tow the plane out. Maybe someone else can contribute ?

Where are you Joe ??

Interesting site - I do know for a while a drug runner's preferred ride was a twin commander.
