That's a cop-out. The derivation of restaurateur is from the verb restaurer (to restore or feed). Thus a restaurateur is someone who feeds or restores, not someone who owns a restaurant!

I realise that language is fluid but this is laziness; if someone wants to use "restaurant" then the correct phrase would be "restaurant owner".
I agree with you but since restaurant and restaurateur are French words, the latter might have different forms in other languages. I speak a couple of European languages and worked with "restaurateur"-s (same French word is used in several languages but is pronounced differently in different countries). They all were "restorers" (restoring paintings, sculptures, facades), not people who feed other people. So I don't think it's laziness, maybe people don't know better or really want to show some difference, even in the wrong way.

If I may ... Yves is right. The word restaurateur is the French ones. And this was imported from the language or the German one to the Polish one as well. However its base is the Latin word "restaurare"/ "re-staurare" what means rebuild, renew, restore literally. In 18th-century France, the term "restaurateurs" was applied to people who sold nutritious, strength-restoring broths and from which the modern word "restaurant" is derived. In the Polish language the word is "restaurator" and means an owner of a dining establishment or an art conservator. The word "restaurant" in Polish is "restauracja" and also means the action of restoring paintings, sculptures etc .. as it was mentioned in the post above.

Think I have a sinus infection. I can feel pain right behind my left eye.
That sucks, hope it doesn't last too long.
I generally get 2-3 of them a years, starts behind the right eye, then my upper teeth start to hurt, and most times it spreads into my right ear as well.
Saline spray, ibuprofen, and warm compresses help.

Good to hear, if it gets really nasty and stuffed up Sudafed helps break things up , but be careful if you have high blood pressure. You need to get the Blue/white box of Sudafed as the red/white box has ingredients that raise your blood pressure significantly.
I'm thinking about getting one of those Navage nasal cleaning machine you see on TV. Maybe a good power wash will help.

My apologies, Sir. A heating pad across a pillow is how I get great relief from sinus, ear or jaw pain. (Initially I thought we were both going cross-eyed from the discussions in French, German, Polish, Latin, Limey English, American Maine English concerning the global meanings and spelling of restaurants, restaurers, restaurateurs ad nauseam). Get well soon,🚑🩺. And remember per my first reply: Music is Medicine.🙂

An upside down ditched P-38 wreck that was famed for its exceptional condition and renowned as a diving site at La Ciotat completetly destroyed by the world's biggest luxury sail cruise ship anchor (Orient Express Corinthian).

Looks like your sinus infection has jumped across the border to Minnesota. Had been feeling under the weather all last week, but did not think it was another sinus infection.
Hit hard last Thursday morning, got out of bed, could barely walk from the vertigo, had to find a sink for an emergency 🤮. Spent two days unable to eat/drink.
Still not 100% and need to see a physical therapist as some of those little crystals in my ear are still causing a but of nausea.
Next off to have a CT scan of my sinuses then to an ENT to see why this is happening so often and seems to be getting worse each time.
I do take donations for medical bills😲

More of a yesterday issue. Tomorrow, I had....had, three appointments in PG spaced out nicely together. Drive 200kms down, hour and a half for appointments, 200kms back. Yesterday I got a call from appointment #3, a mistake was made and my appointment is today. So now its two fuel fill ups and 800kms. Eight trips this month for a total of 3200kms/1988 miles

Finally got sick of the constant sinus/ear infections so scheduled to have a CT Scan done of my sinus cavity to see what the heck is going on in there.
There's another expense I don't need right now.

I'm off to see the physical therapist now to see if he can get the crystals in my ear canals relocated back to where they are supposed to be located instead of floating around in places the ought not be!!!
