I hauled that trailer load of top-heavy upright tools here as planned, then I tried to fix the fuel leak on the 120, and discovered a split return tee. The local JD mechanics are mobile, and he though he might have one but he would not be back until tomorrow.
This was going to become a huge problem. The paver is dropping his walk behind saw for me to use tomorrow, prepping for the water meter tie in and driveway tie in.
Wednesday I will set up signage and cones and open up the street. The city guys will vac truck locate the main, then come back in a few to tap it and set up the meter.
I found the part 110 miles away by the old shop. I went back and got the mini just in case, and the part. Lots of driving today.
Back when it was new:

I towed it with the 2006 GMC Sierra with Duramax and Allison trans, with 275,000 miles on it. It is definitely tired, and today I tried manual shifting it rather than tow mode.
It was much happier with me doing the shifting!
I kept the RPM higher than the default tow mode and all things were better.
It ran cooler and the oil pressure was less scary. I will do the shifting from now on.
When I took over in the summer of 2020, the truck looked much worse than it operated. The bed steel was rusty. I sanded and prepped and primed and painted it.

Polished the aluminum a bit.

I repainted and re-decked both the trailers and repainted the dump truck box that summer too. It was a slow time and the boss was big on appearances.
Apitong decking, straighten it up with the #8 Bailey plane. The old oak was fall through LOL.

Fresh paint on wheels etc. color matched the yellow trailer.

I am trying to be retired completely, but the new hire I got them in November dragged up for better hours, and I am stuck doing a couple of more jobs. I really need to be nice as I have had the equipment on my personal job for months at a time.
We got the compressor and drill press unloaded by hand, but I need to fix that excavator to unload that bandsaw.

Had to set up my UWW account. It was difficult to do because Whitewater, Concordia and RUSD all use Google mail. Got it all straighted out and have to register for two classes on top of the other classes for license 1 and 2. Going to be very busy this fall.

I saw cut the asphalt for the driveway and water main dig.

Fixed the big excavator, got construction signs and candlesticks, picked up a ton of pea gravel.
The neighborhood has been without irrigation water for more than a week. it is a small private system for only 4 houses. I had offered to help and they took me up on it.
I picked up the right stuff at Fergusons, and fixed it this evening.

Road Trip. We're on the way to Chiang Mai so I can meet up with a high school buddy. We're currently in a hotel in Khao Koh. It's up in the mountains. A fun drive through the twisty roads. Glad I wasn't driving.

Today started out not so good. I email the city water supervisor to let them know we are all ready to go.
Bad news, he replied. We ran out of Romac saddles for the water tie in, and need to reschedule for Friday.
W T F? He knew yesterday and did not tell me. I have crew, a paver scheduled, traffic control signs rented and set up.
I emailed him right back and said all that and that I would locate a romac and let's do this. OK that worked.
I sent my guy on a 3 hour mission to get parts, and I pre-dug the water main with the mini until I started hitting big rocks. Then the city guys vac trucked the rest.
I took a minute to get some lunch it is proving to be another long day.

We got it done. Tomorrow morning I will assemble the double check and Pressure Reducing Valve (PRV) and they will inspect that and turn on the water for testing.

It's been savaged by those that have seen it. Think I would rather have a root canal and a colonoscopy on the same day rather than see it.

Went and saw it.
It's not that bad. I was happy.
There's a LOT of backstory explaining in it, and there was one fight scene that I didn't like how it was done, and there's a couple of big plot holes but otherwise, it wasn't a bad movie.
Left a HUGE opening for sequels, but that's the nature of the beast these days.
Go see it, if you want to. There are definitely worse things you can do with your time.
Lastly, if you do go see it, you can leave once the end credits start running. There are no "hidden scenes" within them.
