A friend posted a pic of his dad next to a Douglas twin. Curious if anybody knows what company this is from the insignia?

Mayb this could help? A list of defunct Brazilian airlines. If you know the approximate date of the photo it might give you a list of possibles.

To me that looks like a DC-2 or DC-3.

It looks like here can be noticed a part of the aircraft registration. If it is the Brazilian kite the registration should be PP-*TE or PT-*TE.

It's a Douglas DST, so that might narrow it down a bit.
