Okay guys, here is my list of alternative procurement decisions. You are free to add more.
1. No HP Hereford. Build Harrow bomber transports instead. The few Harrows that were built were used to war's end for casualty evacuation so they must have been good. 146 more transports.
2. No Blackburn Botha. Build Bristol Bombays instead, but not just for the Middle East, the Far East too. Perhaps then, when our army was cut off by the Japanese in 1941/42, they could have been resupplied from the air, and either held out, or retreated in good order with a lot fewer surrenders. 580 more transports.
3. No Hawker Henley target tugs. Build the Hawker Hotspur as a target tug, its much faster so shouldn't have engine overheating problems.
4. Blackburn Roc. Remove the turret, replace with gunners position, add floats and you have a useful scout / dive bomber for use in the Pacific. 136 extra useful planes.
5. No AW Albermarles. Build the Gloster F9/37 instead with Merlins. So to free up some Merlins, you'd build no Beaufighters with Merlins and more Lancasters with Hercules engines. So 602 useful long range escort fighters available from late 41 onwards.
6. No Bristol Buckinghams or Buckmasters. Instead expedite Bristol Freighter development. So 131 extra useful transports available before the war's end for use in the Far East.
7. I've thought about the Defiant. No TT or ASR variants. Maybe some Sea Defiants with upwards folding wings, no turret, catapult spools and arrester hook for fast recce duties off our carriers. Fill the wings with fuel. Our answer to the D4Y. Extra 140 planes.
