What were taxi trainers used for and what kind of paint schemes did they have?

What were they used for... and what paint schemes were they painted into?

A T-6 Texan modified into a taxi trainer at NAS Corry Field, Pensacola, in the 1950s. with a checkerboard style of colors with yellow and black and with a additional landing wheel on the nose of the aircraft.

I agree. The kite was used ofr learning of taxiing. The small front wheel was attached to protect the propeller aghainst striking the ground.

IMHO it is enough to read the pic captions more carefully.
I seem to remember they were also used to train air control, in movements of airplanes around an airfield.
