The first 230 aircraft are sometimes known as the Kittyhawk Mk IIA. The variants of the P-40 were delivered to the Great Britain in 1942 and 1943.

Sorry, but it is definitely P-40E. The layout of the instrument cutouts is completely consistent with the P-40E panel and completely inconsistent with the P-40F panel. The landing gear warning light was also installed on the P-40E (on a fraction - perhaps a small one - of the airplanes released), at least there are photos of it in the Kinzey's and Drendel's books on P-40s.Because of the two small round openings at the top right corner of the plate. The D and E variants had there one control light only. The F got there the second one that was the landing gear warning light.

The P-40E-1 was the export version of the P-40E, the P-40K-1 the export version of the P-40K. There were no long fuselage P-40E or E-1. P-40E-1 production began in December 1941, P-40E production ended and P-40F production began in January 1942, P-40K-1 began in May 1942, P-40E-1 production ended in June. The first longer fuselage were P-40F-5, 41-14300 accepted on 26 August 1942 and P-40K-10, 42-9930 accepted 27 September 1942.The layout of the instrument cutouts is completely consistent with the P-40E panel and completely inconsistent with the P-40F panel.
