  • Afternoon, I just posted for info on the -109 and then came across your answering someone with a 109 model being built. If you happen to be a whiz with the 109 and read my post and can add to the info I am looking for that would be great!!!
Is this message for me, or Paul (MIcdrow) ? If for me, please send a PM and describe which photos. Cheers, Terry

Hi Terry. I think it was posted by Paul. It was a collection of Battle of Britain photos of air crew and airfield mechanics, also included some pics of the early MK.1 2 bladed prop of the Spitfire. If anyone has info on the Isle of Wight's role in the BOB I would be most interested. Regards Perry

Hi Perry. Probably better to send Paul a PM, as it may not show these messages on his profile page. Probably the main involvement in the BoB for the IoW would be the Chain Home (radar) station at Ventnor, a major factor in the air defence. It was attacked and put out of action briefly, and the last time I was there (1989) the original towers were still in place.
Micdrow: Just to say thank you for the glorious pictures of RAF life during WW2. I volunteer for the Sandown aircraft museum on the Isle of Wight, Wight Aviation Museum (WAM) ; we are a charity who display aircraft history from the Isle of Wight. https://wightaviationmuseum.org.uk/ . The question is can we use some of these photos in our museum? We are just finishing a display of a Battle of Britain plotting table.
Hi Terry, Visit to London with my father-in-law has been established: 14-17 October this year. I already communicated with Karl on FB for a visit to Hendon together.
    Hi Terry,

Glad to see your eye caught the wide legs as well. It seemed rather off to me but I aligned each strut correctly and that was the angle at which they appeared. Each strut has a little support that extends towards the back of the plane and it had a place designated for that. It does look a little wider on the picture angle but nonetheless a bit fat. I always appreciate the feedback!!

Terrible to hear mate, hope everything clears up as it should! I haven't been around much either but am trying to put in my due diligence when possible. The days go on and my stash grows but nothing gets built lol.
Thank you for the explanation. I currently do the CA / pva method and it works but sometimes it inconvenient or has left detail missing after repeated rounds of filling. I do have some thing styrene strips and may try those next time when the opportunity presents itself.

I hope all has been well on your side of the pond! :D
Thanks for the info terry! You have caught me mid-sentence because I was going to say the barrels had the black paint as an undercoat for the silver :lol:

I saw your build and it is looking great. I will be following with interest. Please send me a PM about how to use stretched sprue because I had much difficulty filling in the wheel wells and some of the steps and gaps you had.

Do you have a thread for the build? Haven't seen anything from you in awhile!
My pleasure. The new banner isn't yet showing - I just have an image icon, and the log-in boxes, but there are many things 'not right' yet with the forum !
