Thought I'd give this on an airing, it's been gathering dust for many months and I've been itching to give it a go.

The kit is huge and has 28 sprue sheets a couple of PE detail sheets and a nicely provided canopy mask set. I've also got a swag of extras like the ammo shoots, 3D detail sets and some fiddly harnesses. Not sure how I'll display as yet but the kit has great engine detail and loads of other detail internal stuff which would be a shame to hide, I'll have to look and see what my options are.

Many thanks guy's for all those shows of interest. I've been off to a slow start and currently am concentrating on the pilots seat area.

Here it is as it stands, with just one set of seat harnesses attached, I'm currently working on the second set of shoulder straps, very fiddly.

Looking good Vic.
Couple of minor observations :- First, and I realise it's early yet, and you may already know this and have it in hand. The shoulder straps were attached to a cable at their apex, which ran through the slot in the armour plate (arrowed), and was anchored approx half way down the rear of the plate. There was a release lock on the anchor point, with another cable running to a release handle on the right side of the seat pan, allowing the harness to be unlocked, thereby allowing the pilot to lean forward when required.
The second pic shows the harness release cable and handle. Note the harness is a modern addition, not WW2 type.
Second - the fire extinguisher was brass, with the red colour being introduced post war. The signal cartridges were cardboard coloured, with a coloured band, approx 1 inch wide near the top, denoting the flare colour. Cartridge base was brass, like a shotgun cartridge.

EDIT :- Just noticed the cushion in the seat pan - this shouldn't be there. The pilot used a seat-type parachute, the Navigator used a chest pack parachute, stored on the floor rack on the front bulkhead.

Thanks Terry, lots of good info there, not sure I'll go along with it all. The seat harness, yes I'm still working on that and I actually changed the colour of the extinguisher from brass to red thinking red was the true colour. As for the seat cushion, sadly it's stuck fast so will have to remain.

Pilots seat and page 1 of the instructions finished, those little seat belts are a bugger, but we got there in the end. It is not as it should be but good enough to look good through the canopy.

Can anyone tell me what the yellow round bits signify, there seems to be quite a number in this kit.
