Congrats on the beautiful baby!

Your overview of the Airfix Hurricane is very good and I am looking forward to seeing this, especially with the AM upgrades. I have not built an Airfix kit yet but based on the pictures that I've seen on the net, this is the first one that, when I look at the parts, I am not thinking, "hmmm those panel lines are a bit heavy". It looks like Airfix is improving it's molding techniques.

Life has been a little crazy with a new born, but I've still managed to get a little time in at the bench. Here's a quick update.
I started by adding some details to the left side of the cockpit.

Next thing I masked off some of the pre-painted PE parts so I could spray them with the rest of the cockpit.

Next I mixed up some grey-green from Tamiya using their cockpit green and sky at about 50:50 ratio and sprayed everything that needed it.

I added the rudder petals to the cockpit floor making sure to turn them so they will match the rudder that will be deflected when it gets added. The lower pit, seat and tubular frame all got a coat of MM aluminum plate paint.

Detail painting followed with more PE fiddly bits on the sides and for the seatbelt harness. After painting an oil wash was added to bring out the details.

The back of the seat needed to be drilled out for the seat belts.

Last thing I did was to make up the pe instrument panel. I brushed on testors dullcote to tame the shininess that Eduard always seems to have on their pre-painted parts.

That's all for now. Hope to have more soon.

Another quick update. I've got the cockpit pieces all assembled now. The cockpit is fairly complex but everything fit together like a glove. Another nice feature of the kit is the control stick comes in two pieces so you can position it to match the position of the ailerons if you move them about.

I also glued in the landing lights.

I've got the fuselage and wings glued together and will post pics of those in the next day or two. So far the fit of everything has been great and the kit should only need a minimal amount of filler on the seams.

Thanks for looking!
