After 20+ years I returned to building aircraft models with these two planes. I bought both of them from a gentleman on Ebay. They came in the same box for $10. It was a good deal.
They are both OOB except decals. I acquired some decals in order to build the specific depictions of the aircraft. This old kit is, of course, a less than perfect model so it is not completely historically accurate. But I like to build as they are for convenience.
The first one I built is the FW 190 A-8 W.Nr. 171 789 'Black << + -' of Major Karl Kennel, Gruppenkommandeur of II./SG2. It is supposed to represent the aircraft's final look in May 1945. But because I followed the Kagero's color profile before discovering the historical photos, it is possibly wrong in terms of colors (RLM 82/81/76). It probably carried the standard scheme of RLM 74/75/76, and was oversprayed with a field applied RLM 81. I hand painted it as an experiment to replicate the late war feel.
