X-1B

It ben several weeks since I've had time to do any work at either of these builds which as it turned out was a good thing as the modified areas of the dorsal fin had developed some sink holes that I dealt with in the first 2 pictures

After these areas were again sanded and polished I painted the belly hump white and the anti-glare panel black, then masked them and painted all but the outer wings Old Silver.

I've been really busy this summer and haven't had much time to work on either of the X-1's, but I've been able to get a bit done over the last few days, finishing off the instrument panel and adding the back of the indicators and some plumbing. It was a real pain installing it like the plan said - after the fuselage was together. If I had to do it again I would do it before. I just dipped the canopy in Future and hope to install it tomorrow.

X-1B

It's been a few years since I've done anything on this build, well, over 5 years actually, but since I will soon be spraying NMF on the twin Mustang in the group build I thought I would pull it out again and finish it up.

As I left the X-1B in post #26 I had filled, filed, and sanded down the sink areas on the spine and sprayed on the first shade of silver. well after that I put it aside for a while and when I came back to it several weeks (or months) later I found that the dreaded sink holes had re-appeared, got pissed off and threw it in back on the shelf of doom.
Well now after over 5 years I am confident (I hope) that the filled areas are finished sinking so I filed and sanded them smooth again and will re-paint the old silver when I'm spraying the F-82 hopefully this weekend or next week. In the meantime I will be cleaning up the landing gear parts (if I can find them)
